The all-new 2022 Chevy Colorado is coming to the markets with minor changes and upgrades. New Colorado will be an eighth model in the second generation. Moreover, the current model arrived with more dramatic visual updates, especially on the front fascia. Because of that, new Colorado is mostly a carryover model.
The interior will also host minor refreshments, so nothing significant will happen in 2022MY. Some reports are suggesting the end for the diesel engine, but this is not official yet. The launch date is another mystery, but this truck is less than a year away.
2022 Chevy Colorado Facelift
If the latest reports are correct, next-gen Colorado is not so far away. Thanks to that, the 2022 Chevy Colorado remains intact in terms of design. Moreover, current Colorado already gained important cosmetic upgrades. That includes a more aggressive front fascia with a larger grille and a more unique rear section.
The platform remains as well, which means the 2022 Colorado will be a mid-size truck, like its predecessor. Reliable sources are predicting two all-new exterior colors and more standard equipment, but the design won’t change at all.
Interior Offers More Comfort
The interior of the 2022 Chevy Colorado will host slightly more updates than the exterior. The cabin will introduce a couple of high-tech updates, but that’s about it. Colorado is a practical pickup truck with not so attractive interior design. However, it is an incredibly practical model with plenty of room for everyone. Design and interior layout are simple, including easy-to-use features.
The dashboard is very simple and Colorado comes with larger buttons and controls. The base trim level offers standard Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen. Optionally, you can get an 8-inch display, Bose audio system, HD radio, and the latest driver-assistance aids.
2022 Chevy Colorado Engine Specs
As before, the new 2022 Chevy Colorado will offer the same three engines as the outgoing model. Everything starts with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with 200 horsepower. This unit comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission. An optional and larger 3.5-liter V6 develops 308 horsepower and it uses an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Finally, there is a 2.8-liter turbodiesel powertrain. This engine generates 186 horsepower and up to 370 lb-ft of torque.
The diesel variant is also using a 6-speed automatic transmission. However, some rumors are saying the diesel powertrain won’t be on offer in 2022MY. This is not official yet, and we are waiting for Chevrolet to announce the engine lineup. No matter which output you opt for, a rear-wheel-drive setup will be standard.
Price, Release Date
The 2022 Chevy Colorado will cost $26,500 once again. There is no need to increase the price, as the changes are truly minor. Furthermore, next-gen Colorado will reportedly arrive in 2023 and it will be the third-gen model.
The sales of the 2022MY will begin later in 2021. The range-topping trim levels are available for $40,000 or slightly above that. As before, Colorado will rival other mid-size trucks such as Nissan Frontier, Ford Ranger, and Jeep Gladiator.
