The forthcoming 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 will introduce refreshed exterior and interior design. This popular pickup truck was redesigned two years ago. The full-size model won’t suffer a redesign, but a mid-cycle facelift is on the cards. As you probably know, Chevrolet confirmed the all-electric variant of the Silverado pickup for 2023MY.
First spy photos are already here, so we have an idea of how the new Silverado will look like. The interior design won’t change, but the manufacturer will introduce more features. The sales will begin later this year and Chevrolet won’t deliver improvements in terms of performance.
2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Facelift
The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 will undergo some sort of mid-cycle refreshment. That includes a less polarizing design with new styling cues. The spy shots are showing a repositioned Bowtie emblem that sits higher on the front fascia. However, we can’t confirm if this change will be available on all trim levels or on the High Country variant exclusively.
Besides that, Chevy will update the headlights and a recognizable two-tiered grille. The rear section comes without major upgrades, but the rear bumper and the tailgate are slightly refreshed. The manufacturer is yet to show more details, including new exterior paints and unique changes on the upper trim levels.
Interior
The interior of the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 will continue to offer an upright design with plenty of standard equipment. Most of the cabin design and its elements will remain intact. That includes a simple interior design with modern buttons and larger displays. The 2022MY comes with an updated center console where the layout is different.
On top of that, the redesigned instrument cluster will be on offer, along with the standard 7-inch infotainment touchscreen. Silverado also offers features such as Bluetooth, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Optionally, you can get a bigger 8-inch display, leather upholstery, and additional safety aids. The biggest upgrade will be the Super Cruise semi-autonomous hands-free system.
2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Specs
The engine lineup will remain, so the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 will offer up to five different outputs. A 4.3-liter V6 gasoline engine is standard and it comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission. This V6 unit is capable of producing 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque. A 2.7-liter turbo-four engine with 310 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque is optional and it will use an 8-speed gearbox. A larger 5.3-liter V8 is the next powertrain option, developing 355 horses and 383 lb-ft of torque.
This engine can be had with 6-, 8, and 10-speed automatic transmission. A 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine is another great option. The diesel variant is using a 10-speed automatic transmission and it generates 277 horsepower and up to 460 lb-ft of twisting power. Finally, a 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque is the most potent unit you can get.
Price, Release Date
The price of the new 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 starts at around $31,000. The range-topping trim level will cost slightly above $60,000. Chevrolet will launch its best-selling pickup truck this fall. As before, Silverado continues to rival the Ram 1500, Ford F-150, and Toyota Tundra models.
