The next-gen 2022 GMC Canyon will be released later this year. This means that the famous pickup truck will introduce drastic changes and upgrades. Some aspects are already familiar at this stage. Canyon pickup will continue to sell well because it is essentially a more luxurious version of the Chevy Colorado variant. Two models share the same platform, among other things.
Canyon, on the other hand, is a more luxury variant that is difficult to compete with. General Motors will redesign the exterior, and the interior will most likely get various technology upgrades. Canyon retains the same V6 engine under the hood. The price will rise marginally, and sales will begin later next year, according to the most reliable reports.
2022 GMC Canyon Looks More Elegant
The upcoming GMC Canyon 2022 is a luxury mid-size pickup truck. It has a very appealing appearance and a distinct styling. The 2022MY will feature a new front fascia that looks similar to the fascia of the GMC Sierra. The appearance is more rugged, and the grille is new. In general, the front section is more sculpted and definitely more elegant.
GM will also introduce new LED running lights, flared fenders, and a more muscular side profile. We like the new available 20-inch wheels and the brushed exhaust tip. The Canyon pickup isn’t much off-road-capable model. However, its new AT4 trim level will significantly improve the truck’s off-road capabilities. The AT4 variant also adds a more rugged appearance, additional off-road goodies, and more ground clearance.
Interior Upgrades
Such dramatic changes will not be made to the interior. The cabin design of the GMC Canyon 2022 will be basically the same. Furthermore, the interior layout will be carried over, as well. The 2022MY will have more upright fabrics and high-tech features. New quality upholstery and an updated infotainment system are included.
The latest model has a 7-inch touchscreen, and the upcoming model will have a bigger monitor. This is just one of the rumors we’ve heard. New driver-assist features will be on offer, but the majority of them will be optional in the base trim level. These features, on the other hand, would be standard in higher trim levels. Generally, the Canyon will arrive with a slightly more upright interior and more tech.
Engine Options
The engine lineup for the forthcoming 2022 GMC Canyon will remain the same. The base 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which generates 200 horsepower is standard once again. This engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. If you seek more power, a 3.6-liter V6 engine is available as an option. This gasoline engine produces up to 308 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is also available.
GM will deliver increased fuel efficiency, but not major increases. Despite several rumors of a hybrid powertrain, a new powertrain is not in the works. Finally, Canyon’s 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine allows it to haul up to 7,700 pounds. The diesel variant is capable of developing 181 horses and up to 370 lb-ft of torque.
2022 GMC Canyon Price, Release Date
The price of the 2022 GMC Canyon will now start closer to $30,000. It is a small jump in price, although General Motors is yet to unveil the exact prices. The manufacturer will launch a new Canyon by the end of 2021. This model will continue to rival other mid-size trucks such as Ford Ranger and Chevy Silverado.
