In the SR5 and Limited trim packages, the 2022 Toyota Tundra CrewMax and Double Cab models are available. The cabin is fitted with a cargo box of 6.5 feet or an 8-foot bed. The CrewMax only comes with a short cargo box of 5.5 feet. The Double Cab is similar to the domestic and import pickups of competitors. According to many reliable sources, the CrewMax has the largest cab of all trucks on the full-size market. As a result, the bed is shorter.
Exterior Redesign
The upcoming 2022 Toyota Tundra CrewMax will ride on a 145.7-inch wheelbase. This model is 228.6 inches long and 79.8 inches wide. Moreover, the CrewMax variant offers up to ten inches of ground clearance. On top of that, the cargo box is shorter but it offers an impressive 18 inches of depth.
No matter which Tundra you opt for, Toyota will deliver a redesign. We expect to see a lot of improvements, including new wheels and exterior paints. Toyota will also provide new front fascia, larger grille, bolder bumpers, and all-new taillights in the back.
Interior Updates

The CrewMax version comes with 42.5 inches of front legroom and 44.5 inches of rear legroom. As we said, the DoubleCab model delivers significantly less room, but it comes with a longer bed.
Like the exterior, Toyota will also provide a lot of interior changes. We expect to see more upright materials, a larger display, and a new Entune infotainment system. On top of that, Toyota will upgrade the list of driver-assistance aids.
New Powertrain Option
The all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra CrewMax will have improved performance. Its 380 horsepower and 400 lb-ft V8 engine are gone now. Nowadays, a powerful V8 fails due to poor fuel efficiency. Because of that, expect a V6 powered 2022 Tundra. Although not confirmed, top-grade levels will include a 3.4-liter 416-hp engine.
The Lexus LS500 uses the same engine. This is a worthy replacement, but a hybrid powertrain would be a major upgrade. Some sources claim a gasoline-electric hybrid will launch and compete with the Ford F-150 Hybrid. But we don’t have an official word yet.
2022 Toyota Tundra CrewMax Price, Release Date
The 2022 Toyota Tundra CrewMax starts at around $2,000 above the DoubleCab variant. With that in mind, you can have this model for about $36,000. Toyota will launch a new model in the coming months, by the end of the year.
