The Bowtie brand is reportedly working on a new 2023 Chevrolet Montana. Unibody pickup trucks appear to have risen from ridicule and imaginings to become the market’s most popular segment almost overnight. The Ford Maverick will compete against the Hyundai Santa Cruz, a Tucson-based truck, in that race. Much less well-known is that General Motors is working on a third potential competitor, the Montana truck.
Will any of Ford’s rivals respond by manufacturing a tiny pickup truck to directly compete with the Maverick? Chevrolet does, in fact, produce Montana, a tiny four-door truck with a front-wheel drive system. However, all indications indicate that it will not be released in the United States during its first year of production.
Chevrolet Montana Specs
The forthcoming 2023 Chevrolet Montana will be constructed on an upgraded version of the GEM platform. This is advantageous since this architecture should provide a higher-quality ride experience than previous ones. As a result, we may make educated guesses about the engine that will power the Montana truck. At this moment, a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine appears to be the most likely option. This engine has a horsepower rating of 133. A more powerful motor will, of course, be available as an option.
What we don’t know is whether or not a hybrid version exists. It makes sense to provide a small hybrid pickup truck nowadays.
