The upcoming 2023 Ford Courier is scheduled to arrive by the end of 2022. As a result, the earlier reports are true, and the new small unibody truck will take on a more rugged appearance to appeal to American sensibilities. Interestingly, some new renderings have surfaced, and the future Ford Courier appears to be comparable to the Ford Ranger, which was just launched. Essentially, the front and back sections are almost identical.
The engine choices will be the same as in the Escape crossover, which means two EcoBoost engines will be available. On top of that, a hybrid powertrain like on the Ford Maverick pickup is the most likely outcome. If the most recent reports are correct, the production of the Courier pickup will start soon at the same plant in Mexico that will produce a new Bronco Sport SUV.
Ford Courier Design
The first images of the 2023 Ford Courier have surfaced, and they reveal the same design language as the Ford Ranger. To begin with, the Ford Courier has the same appealing front fascia, which includes a large grille and sharp headlights. We also have to confess that the front grille of the next Courier looks a lot like that on the Ford Bronco SUV.
Overall, the appearance is distinctive, and the new optional 20-inch wheels are appealing. The Courier will have the same short bed as the Ford Ranger, with large FORD lettering on the back. Some reports are suggesting a design closer to the Ford Maverick, which is also a small pickup. However, things are not official yet, so we are waiting to hear the first official details.
Interior Details
To this day, the interior of the 2023 Ford Courier remains a complete mystery. However, we believe that Ford will add more quality materials to stay competitive. The seating layout should allow up to five people, offering a high level of comfort for all. Also, expect the same infotainment as we saw on the ranger.
That means we will see at least an 8-inch touchscreen with a SYNC 4 infotainment and the most recent phone integrations. Safety will also be the same as on Bronco and Ranger models. Unfortunately, we don’t know which trim levels will be on offer, but we expect at least one luxury version.
Engine Specs, Transmission
As for the performances, the new 2023 Ford Courier will reportedly borrow the engine lineup from the Ford Escape crossover. Thanks to that, we expect more than enough power for this small unibody pickup. The lineup includes two EcoBoost gasoline engines. The first one is a 1.5-liter unit with 180 hp. Optionally, you can go with the larger 2.0-liter engine that develops up to 250 horsepower.
An 8-speed automatic transmission will come as standard. Lastly, Courier should offer a hybrid powertrain as well. And while some rumors are predicting the same hybrid system that can be found in Escape PHEV, some other reports are saying the Courier will borrow Maverick’s hybrid setup.
2023 Ford Courier Price, Release Date
The price of the approaching 2023 Ford Courier is not available yet. However, the idea is to build a small unibody pickup at an affordable price. Therefore, the new model should not cost above $24,000. Of course, more luxury trim levels or an optional engine will surely increase the price.
