Hybrid and Gasoline Engine Options
The base XL model of the 2023 Ford Maverick is equipped with a hybrid engine that combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and an electric motor. This combination produces 191 horsepower and is mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Although hybrid Mavericks are only available with front-wheel drive, Ford guarantees 40 mpg in the city, which is comparable to the EPA rating for the Escape Hybrid.
The Escape Hybrid crossover comes standard with all-wheel drive, and Ford says it may be added to the Maverick hybrid later if demand warrants it. A nonhybrid turbo-four 2.0-liter engine with front-wheel drive or an optional all-wheel-drive system is available as an option. This gasoline variant has 250 horsepower and a torque of 277 lb-ft, with an eight-speed automated transmission. The hybrid version can tow up to 2000 pounds, while the turbo 2.0-liter engine can draw up to 4000 pounds.

Blue Oval is about to unveil another all-electric variant, following the F-150 Lightning truck and Mustang Mach-E crossover. We’re talking about the 2023 Ford Maverick Lightning model. As previously stated, this is not yet official, but many credible sources are certain that the electric Maverick is a reality. Without a question, Ford will continue to invest in its electrification initiative.
The first renderings have been released, and the Maverick will have the same front fascia as the F-150 Lightning. The standard Maverick, on the other hand, will be unique and will differ from the all-electric model.
