The upcoming 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X is the company’s latest off-road variation, and it appears to be more aggressive than the conventional Canyon. It will go on sale later this year. This model will be mechanically identical to the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2. It has a V6 gasoline engine and a six-speed transmission. Of course, the Canyon AT4X will have a couple of unique elements as well.
In addition, the AT4X’s interior is rather sumptuous, matching the well-known Denali trim level. Soft leather upholstery, a larger touchscreen option, and improved safety features round out the cabin. Like the Colorado ZR2 model, this one will also provide all-terrain tires and Multimatic spool-valve dampers.
GMC Canyon AT4X Exterior Design
Naturally, the 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X looks more aggressive than the regular Canyon model. It has more aggressive body lines and a front fender. Furthermore, the AT4X version provides rocker panel protectors and larger 17-inch six-spoke wheels. The wheels are wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler mud tires.
Most likely, this truck will wear 33-inch tires, while the AT4 model has 31-inch units. The AT4X will also provide more ground clearance, most likely a 2-inch increase. The track width is also improved, up to 3.5 inches. Like any other off-roader, this one will provide a standard trailer hitch, skid plates, and front tow hooks painted in red.
Interior Features
As this is the next-gen model, we expect numerous interior improvements. Right now, we know that the 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X model will offer a crew cab layout exclusively. Most likely, it will remain the only available body setup. The cabin is full of plush materials, so comfort is guaranteed. The interior provides more than enough space for all passengers.
GMC will introduce a larger transfer case and a new Terrain driving mode. This model allows the one-pedal control. Luxury features such as 16-way power-adjustable seats with massage function and Bose sound system will be available as standard. The Canyon AT4X will also deliver premium Vanta ash wood trim.
Engine Specs
The all-new 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X will most likely offer a 2.7-liter engine as standard. The engine lineup is still a mystery. However, this turbo-four engine is the most likely candidate. It can produce up to 325 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque.
A diesel engine should be optional. Still, this is pure speculation. A hybrid model will not happen for sure. We are waiting for more details, including diesel powertrain, transmission, and more. As we said, the Canyon AT4X will provide Multimatic DSSV spool-valve dampers, like the Colorado ZR2 pickup truck.
2023 GMC Canyon AT4X Price, Release Date
From what we know, the 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X will cost around $40,000. Of course, the price is not official yet. On the other hand, we know that the next-gen Canyon pickup will go on sale this summer. The off-road-capable AT4X trim level made its debut on the GMC Sierra pickup truck. Now, this treatment will be available on the GMC Canyon model, and most likely on the Sierra HD lineup of trucks.
