Although it is most popular in North America, the Frontier nameplate is also utilized in a number of South and Central American markets. We’re talking about a vehicle that’s been dubbed Navara in these areas, which has a somewhat different design from the North American version. The 2023 Nissan Frontier Diesel doesn’t seem that unusual given that the Navara is mostly propelled by diesel engines. Furthermore, this has been a consistent occurrence for years.
And while most of the competitors are offering diesel engines, Frontier offers only a gasoline V6 engine. The rumors about the diesel powertrain are still here, so we hope that at least one of them will be the correct one. After a significant redesign, we don’t expect many changes in 2023MY. However, the diesel variant could be one major upgrade for this mid-size truck.
Nissan Frontier Diesel Specs
A possible new engine for the 2023 Nissan Frontier Diesel would be the most intriguing feature. The 2.5-liter turbo-four that powers the Navara-based Frontier in Latin America produces around 188 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. However, many reports are saying that this unit won’t be on offer in the United States. It makes a lot of sense.
Because of this, several car experts are predicting a more potent 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel. This version is capable of producing 255 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque, which is more than enough for customers in the US. Naturally, Frontier will continue to offer a standard 3.8-liter gasoline variant with 310 horsepower.
The upcoming 2023 Nissan Frontier Diesel will introduce minor interior updates. A whole new cabin design was introduced during the makeover last year, and it looks fantastic. The dashboard uses premium materials and has a very appealing appearance. The wider list of standard equipment and the great attention to detail make the cabin even more appealing. You can choose between regular King Cab or optional Crew Cab setups.
Nissan also offers two different beds, 5-foot, and 6-foot long cargo beds. An 8-inch touchscreen comes as standard, while the 9-inch display will be optional. Nissan will update the infotainment system and install additional USB ports (both Type-A and Type-C). You can also get an optional wireless charging and Wi-Fi hotspot.
After a complete redesign, Nissan will try to build on that. Therefore, the 2023 Nissan Frontier Diesel will gain new alloy wheels as an option. Moreover, we expect to see new exterior colors and more equipment. Besides that, nothing will change.
This truck is one of the segment leaders. It looks very upright and modern. If you want something wilder, the carmaker offers off-road trim levels such as Pro-4X. This version provides unique orange accents, a standard AWD system, all-terrain tires, skid plates, and much more.
2023 Nissan Frontier Diesel Price, Release Date
The price of the base trim level starts at $28,000. The Frontier model will provide four trim levels: S, SV, Pro-X, and Pro-4X. As for the 2023 Nissan Frontier Diesel, it is not official yet. If this version actually arrives, then it will cost slightly below $35k. The sales will begin this fall, per reports.
