One of America’s favorite trucks is getting a refresh, the 2024 Ford F-150 is coming. The F-150 line of pickups is one of the most beloved pickups in the US. This is all with good reason. It has the style, it was utilitarian, sturdy, and reliable. It had all that it needed to come out on top in a very populated mid-size truck segment. This mid-cycle refresh is not a surprise.
It is quite frequent that Ford updates their flagship pickup. This is only bound to attract more people. Some updated technology along with updating the body style. But there is a possibility of an electric powertrain and we are excited about that. Let’s see what the new F-150 will look like.
Ford F-150 Interior
The inside of the new 2024 Ford F-150 is getting a small update. This mostly concerns the seating and technology updates. More cushioning will be available along with better lumbar support. This will come in handy especially if this is a working truck for you. Sitting 8 hours straight in a bad seat is not something you wish for. More upholstery material would be a great selling point.
Infotainment is poised to stay unchanged with standard connectivity. Also, we get Blue Cruise. This is hands-free driving software directly from Ford. This will take you down 200000 miles of pre-mapped roads in the US. But you can’t really fall asleep behind the wheel, more like relax if anything.
Facelift
On the outside of the 2024 Ford F-150, we won’t see many changes. The electric variant might have some details to signify its resemblance to other traditional powertrain models. Bumpers are still prominent and protrude a bit. Big mesh on the front for air intakes.
The electric version obviously won’t need those. There are headlights to the side and a unified LED bar above the fascia that descends to the side of the car. A big step to help you get in and out of the car. Wheel rims are 19 inches but there is an option for even bigger ones if you so desire.
Engine Specs, Transmission
Over the past forty years, the majority of American automakers have produced diesel engines at a certain point. Diesel engines are currently much less common, mostly seen in pickup trucks and a few SUVs. In other nations, where skyrocketing gasoline prices and tax advantages make them more affordable options, diesel engines have really never been as popular as they are in the U.S. The desire for more fuel-efficient engines has been muted in the United States due to record low gas costs.
Meanwhile, in recent years, diesel has been further pushed to the sidelines by hybrids and electric-only powertrains. Some companies were even caught cheating on emission tests. And this made only trouble for diesel powertrains. Lucky for us the F-150 line will offer both diesel and gasoline powertrains. But we are excited at the prospect of a hybrid and electric version. The 2024 Ford F-150 will have the same engine offer as the previous model year.
We could say that Ford fans are spoiled for choice. There is a PowerBoost Hybrid with a 3.5-liter V6 gas engine and a single electric motor. Perhaps a dual setup, one motor for each axle would be better. But this build produces 430 horsepower and 570 pound-feet of torque. More than enough for a mid-size pickup. The electric version gets 560 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque. This is amazing considering it runs only on batteries. Ford really managed to pull a wonder with this powertrain.
Fuel Economy and Driving Range
The traditional combustion engine will get around 24 mpg combined driving. The electric 2024 Ford F-150 gets 300 miles on a single charge. This is due to its fast charging and self-recharge capabilities. So every time you press the brake pedal you bring back a little bit of that energy. Genius, isn’t it?
2024 Ford F-150 Price and Release Date
We are glad that the F-150 will offer all sorts of engines. Especially with emission regulations getting more strict. The release date is aimed at the summer of 2023 and hopefully, Ford delivers on this one. The 2024 Ford F-150 starting trim is estimated at around $42000. The electric version will surely cost more, we just have to wait and see how much more.
