The mid-size segment for pickups is getting crowded. Enter the 2024 Jeep Gladiator. This truck is everything you might want in an off-road pickup. It has a lot of tools to take on the unbeaten path. Well, it even has a cool and aggressive name. It was built in classic Jeep fashion. resembling other vehicles in Jeep’s fleet.
The Gladiator basically looks like a wrangler with more back to it. There might be some changes coming up. mostly concerning interior design and some exterior features. But we are interested in the powertrain changes. Apparently, there will be some form of electrification under the hood. Let’s see what it might look like.
Jeep Gladiator Interior Improvements
The interior of the new Gladiator is pretty fashionable. With the 2024 Jeep Gladiator, designers did an excellent job of making it stand out from the competition. Of course, the seats need to be superb because the pickup is primarily an off-roader. This translates to additional padding and improved lumbar support. It is our prerogative to make the ride as comfortable as possible.
Although the Gladiator has heated and ventilated seats, massage chairs are not offered. On the instrument panel, there is a central infotainment system. According to rumors, it’s a 14-inch touchscreen. In this manner, the passengers in the back row can also partake in the enjoyment. Additionally, digital is the dashboard, which is a positive move toward the future.
Exterior Design Upgrades
The pickup’s exterior resembles a vintage Jeep. The updated 2024 Jeep Gladiator looks fantastic and bears many similarities to its forebears. The standard length of the cargo bed is 5.5 feet. It is great for off-roading because it has great ground clearance of almost 9 inches. The lightweight 21-inch rims are mounted on 33-inch Goodyear all-terrain tires.
They reduce the pickup’s weight and increase its power-to-weight ratio. Jeep offers the solution if you wish to downsize the Gladiator even further. Customers can choose a doorless build or one without a roof, as is the case with most of Jeep’s designs. They are removable and may be changed out for some fantastic possibilities when creating your personal Jeep Gladiator.
Engine Specs
The Jeep is always ready to take on any obstacle. Their engines are capable, durable, and stand the test of time. They perform well even in the harshest of environments. There won’t be a plethora of choices for engines in the Gladiator. The 2024 Jeep Gladiator starts with a 2.0-liter engine. It is a turbo-four engine that has a Torque Flite eight-speed automatic transmission. The engine boasts 375 horsepower with 470 pound-feet of torque. More than enough to move the big Gladiator around.
On the off-road, the extra torque really shows its value. This engine is only one component of the much better PHEV hybrid unit. The Gladiator utilizes a dual motor setup. One for each axle. This idea does wonders for performance, and they probably got the idea from Tesla’s Cybertruck. Although Cybertruck goes as far as using three electric motors for over 800 horsepower, The engines can run for 40 miles extra each without any fuel. They also help the combustion engine all the time, so they reduce stress on it and make it last much longer. The hybrid version means that the new Gladiator won’t be affected too much by the new emission regulations.
Unfortunately, there won’t be full electrification happening just yet. But if it did happen, we hoped that Jeep would use a big battery pack. Of course, they’d need a platform that could support that build, at least 150 kWh for the big Gladiator. This would put it over 300 miles of range easily, with plenty of power to roam the wilds. There are plenty of platforms and architectures that can be borrowed, so it is a surprise they haven’t taken this step yet. Perhaps the next generation of Gladiators is the one to go green.
Solid Fuel Economy Ratings
It is a bit pricey to run the Gladiator. The new 2024 Jeep Gladiator can get around 16 mpg in the city, 23 on the open road, and 19 combined with its PHEV technology. Full electrification would obviously improve this, so we are waiting for it to happen.
2024 Jeep Gladiator Price and Release Date
We don’t expect the truck to start rolling earlier than autumn 2023. This is just in time to battle it out with other pickups in the category. The starting price is estimated at around $40,000 for the basic trim.
